Smithville Genealogy Society Meeting
Genealogy Group to Study U. S. Censuses - Although some genealogists know all about census and almost all know some about census, it’s hard to know everything about census because there is a lot to learn. At theSaturday, March 14 meeting, 9:30 a.m.at the Smithville Public Library, 507 Main St., Smithville, the group will review censuses that have been taken in the United States and what you can find in them. Besides the FederalCensus, which started in 1790 and continues every 10 years, some stateshave taken their own censuses. Did you know that 44 of our 50 states have conducted census counts in at least part of their state and for at least a few years? The group will also review hints for finding people more easily, whatever online source you use. Smithville Genealogy Society welcomes those wanting to learn more about genealogy and finding their ancestors. No reservations, fees or membership requirements apply. Meetings are the secondSaturday each month except August and December. For more information, callCarol Snyder at 830-839-4080 or Smithville Library at 512-237-3282, Ext.6.
