Join the 37th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Walk for Peace, Justice & Equality in Elgin, Texas on Monday, Jan.19, 2026! This free community event begins with a walk at 10 a.m. starting from the Elgin Depot Museum, followed by an 11 a.m. program, at Booker T. Washington Elementary School, celebrating Dr. King’s legacy of nonviolence and civil rights. Attendees can participate in the peaceful walk through downtown Elgin, enjoy inspiring remarks, connect with neighbors and community leaders, and reflect on themes of equality, service, and unity. Refreshments will be provided, and the event offers a meaningful way for all ages to honor Dr. King’s vision and strengthen community bonds. This is a countywide event with location rotating each year between Bastrop, Elgin and Smithville.
