Bastrop County Historical Society Day of Giving
In August 1832, Stephen F. Austin traveled through the region that would later become Bastrop County. During his journey, he took note of the Colorado River, writing in his journal: “The [Colorado River] is something less than the [Brazos] banks, very high, generally clear of overflow, bottom and banks gravelly, water very clear and well-tasted, current brisk.”
Nearly 200 years later on August 16, the Bastrop County Historical Society (BCHS) is honoring that historic moment with a Day of Giving—a celebration of Bastrop’s past, present, and future.
On August 16, you are invited to stop by the Bastrop County Museum & Visitor Center to enjoy a day filled with local music, family-friendly activities, food, prizes, and the opportunity to support the ongoing preservation and sharing of Bastrop County history.
BCHS welcomes donations of all sizes—$10, $25, $50, $100, or more—with every dollar going directly toward its mission to preserve and promote the rich stories of Bastrop County. And thanks to a generous matching donor, your gift will go twice as far! Donations can be given both in person and online starting today!
Whether you’re a longtime resident, a new neighbor, or a history enthusiast just passing through, this Day of Giving is a chance to come together, celebrate local heritage, and ensure Bastrop County’s story continues for generations to come.
