DESCRIPTION:Recess on the River – Combined Community Action will hold the 11th Annual Recess on the River BBQ Cook-Off to benefit the “Meals on Wheels” Program on Friday and Saturday\, May 30-31 Riverbend Park\, Smithville.The cook-off is IBCA sanctioned and the entry is $125 per team for brisket\, pork spare ribs and chicken.  On Friday there will be Jackpot Contests toinclude salsa\, jalapeno grill-off\, cooks choice and margarita mix-off\,each of those entries are $10.  On Saturday\, besides the 3 main entries\,you can try your hand at Jackpot Beans for $10 and Dessert for $15.  The Shop Dawgs will provide free live entertainment on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.  Burger Baskets will be on sale during the event.  There will be a drawing with great prizes to be given away\, including a rifle\, $500 Mastercardgift card\, fire pit\, Yeti cooler\, shotgun\, Cabela’s gift card\, Coach purse\, Arbor bench and more items for a $10 donation per entry. The American Legion Riders Post 533 will have a Poker Run beginning at 1 p.m. at the Park\\\; contact Robbie Curles at 979-268-3770 if you are interested in “Riding the Wheels for Meals on Wheels”.
